Time
We are creatures of time. There will never be a time we are not. Think of that. You and I are eternal beings. Some of us will live in an eternal paradise because we accepted Jesus as our Savior and Redeemer and others, will live in eternity in eternal torment. Why? Because “they” did not accept the free offer of salvation through Jesus Christ, the ONE who paid for the sins of the world upon the cross.
Romans 10:13, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.
There will always be time. In eternity time will be unlimited. Time is something you cannot see, but we live in it. Time, we do not feel, but we desire it. We often say we do not have time for this or that. We all have the same time to use, but how we use our time is the question. Time can be flittered away and wasted, or time can be used wisely.
Most of us have watches to help us keep up with the time of day. We have calendars to tell us the time of the year. We as humans are living in time and we keep up with the time we were born and wonder how long a time I will live.
Just One Second
The seconds tick away and sixty makes a minute. One sixtieth of an hour is forever gone. No genius, no invention, no formula, can bring back the time that was given. One second so little time, but added to a minute more of our life. In a second one dies, another is born. Someone is saved from sin within a second. Someone went to heaven in a second. So much can happen in the moments we have. We can learn, or spurn, or redeem the time. How much time do I have to waste? Who gave me my time and for what? A second of fresh air or a pause to rest, energizes our bodies, to continue our work.
Think of this:
Each Day
3,600 seconds in an hour,
86,400 seconds in a day.
604,800 seconds in a week
2,626,560 seconds in a month.
31,518,720 seconds in a year,
Which second is not important?
The Creator gave these to us,
For us to use them to serve Him.
Time so small but given to all, some
More, some less, God knowing best.
No second has more value than another.
Each a priceless treasure entrusted.
Given the freedom to choose, we choose.
How much wisdom, do our choices vindicate?
When death encroaches our weary bodies,
We struggle to live, just one more second.

Divided Time
If we assume we all sleep eight hours a day that leaves us 16 hours. Of those 16 hours we may be on some job or working in a career from eight to ten hours per day five days a week. That leaves around six hours and then Saturday for other projects or interest. Of course, that leaves us with Sunday. So, what are we going to do with Sunday? That is where we will see the spiritual values of people. What do you think of Sunday?
Now I was raised to go to church on Sunday. Even when I was in the army I always went to chapel when we were free to do so. If we were not able to go to chapel, there was usually some chaplain who held a brief service where we would be at.
But all my life I have consistently gone to church because I am a believer in the Lord and his Word. I do not think there can be a better life in this world than being a believer in Jesus as Lord and Savior. All of us who are in Christ are eternally rich and blessed beyond measure.
Death & Judgment
In Genesis we read about the oldest man to ever live.
And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. Genesis 5:27
Imagine living 969 years, but still, he died. Death is assigned to all of us because we are a race of sinners. We do not like death, but it’s part of our existence. Nearly every day we hear of someone who has died.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27
Not only is our time limited in this world, but there is going to be a judgment day for all of us. We are told that believers will stand at the judgment seat of Christ after the rapture of the church.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Cor. 5:10
At this judgment it will be determined how faithfully we served the Lord from the day we were saved. Then we will be rewarded for all the things we did for our Lord and Savior. Some will receive many rewards and many other believers may receive none. This will determine our place of service with Jesus throughout eternity.
Think of this, the Lord offers salvation to all believers as a free gift. Then he is going to give us rewards for faithfully serving him as believers after he has saved us. Truly, God is good and loves us all more than we can even imagine.
This judgment seat of Christ is just for believers of the church age. Judgment for the Old Testament saints and tribulation believers will be at the end of the tribulation, while unbelievers will be held at the great white throne judgment of Revelation 20:11-15,
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
This judgment will be horrible because everyone there will be condemned to eternal separation from God in outer darkness and terror. Jesus had paid for their sins, but they failed to believe. Because of that disbelief they are forever lost throughout eternity.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
Born In Time
All of us came into this world by the will of God at his appointed time, with a plan from Him for our lives. I am afraid many never find out their plan. They never seek the Lord or have time for the Lord, and they live in vanity never knowing the real meaning and purpose of life.
God did not put us here for a life of pleasure living. Too many people want to be rich or famous and that is their goal in life. But my friends, that is truly unimportant. Preparing to meet God and live for eternity is the real purpose of this life. God has given all of us a certain amount of time to do the work he wants each of us to do to make the world a better place to live. Jesus called men from fishing, a man from being a tax collector, and a man who was a prosecutor of the church, Apostle Paul. Jesus struck him down on the road to Damascus so he would realize God’s plan for his life was to preach the gospel to us Gentiles.
God has always existed. There hasn’t been a time he never existed, and he will always exist. He is the Eternal One. But there was a time when God created a world for man to live in & man was created so he could know this glorious God and live with him throughout eternity.
From almost the beginning of time though, Satan has been very successful in keeping many from knowing the truth about life.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Gen.1:1
Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. Ps. 103:5-6
There is also a time when this world as we know it will be melted down with fire according to the writing of the Apostle Peter, & a new heaven & earth will appear.
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:7
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Peter 3:10
There is coming a time when life on this earth as we know it will cease and a New Heaven and a New Earth will replace this one. Then, there will be an eternal paradise with nations of people living upon it. It seems the Church, known as the Bride of Christ, will be with Jesus in the New Jerusalem the city of golden splendor. As time continues, on and on through eternity there will be absolute peace, joy, and love with the Savior of sinners, our Lord Jesus Christ. I know I will be there, do you?
Father, thank you for time to get ready to meet the Savior. Thank you for all the gracious blessings you give to us. Thank you for teaching us about eternity in your Holy Book. May our many readers be challenged to love and serve you with all their hearts and promote the love of God to others, I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
We long for the coming of the Lord to take us home. If you don’t know him, call upon His Holy Name today and be saved. Loving the Savior, Preacher
