Our Belief System

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36

Have you ever stopped to think about what your belief system is based upon? What is the foundation of your beliefs? When you make decisions, do you do so on some value system? What is yours? To have the correct view of life and God there must be some sort of truth you can believe to be true in order to make correct decisions upon. If we make our decisions based on a secular educational training or our natural intelligence, we will in all probability make the wrong decisions.

For example, most people when they vote, vote with their pocket book in mind. That is, what is it that is going to best profit them. On the surface that sounds reasonable, but let's wait and see. Is that a smart or wise way to vote? Those of us who are believers in Christ should always consider the principles of the Word of God. What is right in God's sight? Seeking truth and not profit should be our concern. Having a godly mind set is important. The problem with modern believers is they have too little conviction. Many believers lack the ability to discern and easily fall into the trap Satan sets in making unwise decisions. So are you making decisions based on what you think or what the truth of God's Word teaches?

How often do we hear people say, "I believe this" and then they tell what they believe about something. But when you say, "I believe this," on what standard or value was that decision made upon. It is not wrong to believe something, but how have you come to believe it? Is it because someone told you to believe it? Is it just your preference to believe it? I want you to think about what you believe as you read these thoughts.

Some of our leaders believe in murdering babies in the mother's womb. Do you believe that? They tone it down by calling it pro choice. It is the right of the mother to abort the baby she has conceived. But what about the rights of the baby? It is a person just as much as the mother. This kind of thinking has gotten this country into trouble with the Giver of Life. No one has the right to take another person's life even one in its mother's womb. The only exception is murderers. God's Word teaches that they are to be put to death because they have taken someone else's life. Therefore, they have forfeited their own life and the state should terminate their life. Maybe you don't believe in capital punishment, but God does.

Some of our leaders want gambling casinos and selling alcoholic products. A Holy God is not for that, yet people go vote for such. The wisdom writer in Proverbs said,

Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

Many leaders are slack on protecting our nation, yet there are many people who think you can talk our enemy into being nice and we will all get along together. Along with that kind of thinking some think we should cut back on the military in number and weapons. It is hard to understand how peoples' mind can be so twisted and short sighted.

For a number of years illegal people have been coming into this country in large numbers. I am not opposed to people coming to our country, but they should come legally so we could better know who they are. Many of these are committing all kinds of crimes and driving vehicles without insurance and licenses.

The reason we have all the crime we have today in our country is because the court system has become so liberal until the criminals have more rights that the law abiding citizens.

Of course we have an ever growing number of people who want the Ten Commandments out of our court rooms, state and federal buildings. They managed to get prayer out of the school and reading the Bible. So very quickly we are a nation of people that wants to get rid of God or anything especially associated with Jesus Christ.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. John 5:40

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10

People often vote for a change. They don't like the way things are so they want a change. Usually the change they want is more for "me." But is what they want to change true to the moral values of the Bible? Somehow people just don't connect to the truth that our real blessings are associated with living for God, by God's Word. A departure from that brings problems, troubles, judgments, and a loss of security.

A host of people in our country have allowed themselves to be enslaved to politicians who have promised them something that is meager and been satisfied with it. If you read in God's Word you will find these words of wisdom,

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2 Thessalonians 3:10

And even worse is that many of these are church people who claim to be Christians. Yes, we have many Christians who are just as guilty as the unsaved in voting for, and in having a belief system opposed to the teachings of God's Word. People are voting for someone to give them something when God would give them more if they lived by His Word. God said people are to work. But many think the government ought to take from those who work and give to these who will not work. The truth is the government does not have any money. The money the government has is taken from the working people in the form of taxation. In the Old Testament, the poor were allowed to gather the grain in the corners of a field, but they had to go get it themselves in order to take care of their needs.

These are just some of the problems we have because the people who are in leadership do not have a proper moral value system. We have leaders who are homosexuals in our congress and senate. Do you think these people can make wise decisions, and decisions that please God that are truly good for the country? Yet, they are elected year after year by the people whose values are just as corrupt.

Now some people would think that if the majority feel the same way about something, it must be right or the best thing to do. But that is not true at all. There will probably be more people in hell than in heaven, so does that make it right?

Now when you buy a product there is usually some instructions with it. Those instructions tell you about the product and how to use it correctly. The people who made the product know their product and they know best how someone should use it. Since God made each of us does it not stand to reason He knows best how we can have a mind that is trained to make the best decisions? Sure He does. But how many even consult Him or seek His wisdom? We have a mind set in our country now to throw off all restrictions so that "I" can do whatever makes me feel good. We are becoming more morally corrupt and as a nation we are going to bring down the judgment of Almighty God upon ourselves.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Psalms 33:12

But remember, too many don't want God. The scoffers, agnostics and the atheists are getting their agendas passed by those who are considering how to get the most votes so they can retain their power. Many of the leaders are affiliated with some religion, but it appears in name only and some of them are even involved with cults. We are an educated people in this country, but we are being ruled by the wisdom of the world and we need desperately the Wisdom of God.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:5

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

We have reached a time in our country when too many do not have the fear of the Lord and they do not want the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is a holy reverence for Him and for obeying His commandments. He has told us what is right and what is wrong, but we have become so dull to the fact that we don't believe it!!! God says in His Word, a murderer is to be put to death. (That includes those who kill babies) God says we are to work and that means all who are physically able. (The family is to support those unable) God says only men and women are to be married. Marriage is a Biblical word!!! God says there is a heaven for those who trust Jesus Christ as their personal savior and hell awaits those who fail to trust him.

To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Proverbs 8:13

So as we have been pondering these thoughts have you been thinking about your own beliefs and how you arrived at what you believe? Are you allowing the teaching of the Word of God to direct you in your decision making process, whether it is in daily living, or when it comes time to vote? If you and I do not get truth into our thinking process we will not think correctly. Our minds will accept what is natural to us as to what we should do or not do. A house or building has to have a solid foundation for it to be built upon if it is to stand. The same is true with a life. We must have the proper training so we can see life through the eyes of God.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:4-11

He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. Luke 11:23

So many people need to get their belief system adjusted to be in step with the teaching of God's precious Word and life will be much better for all concerned.

Heavenly Father, give us wisdom from heaven to live a righteous life for you. Bless our readers that the desire of their hearts would be to have heaven's wisdom, as they make decisions in life. Thank you for loving us all and providing salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen, Preacher
