Love Letters From Jesus
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34-3
As we know another year is behind us and here, in early Spring we celebrate Easter. Easter, also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: John 11:25
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:40
What I’d like to share with our readers is this thought: Why, would Jesus do so much for us? For you, for me, for EVERYONE! Why? The short answer is His incomprehensible love for man. Yes, He suffered and died a cruel death on a cross so that he could fellowship with us forever one day in Heaven. That by through his word he could show all of us who would accept Him as their Savior, a way of life that is pleasing in his sight and full of Blessings for his children.
But my friend, if you do not know this kind of love in your life we pray you will seek knowledge of Him and his word today, so you may know what real love can be in your life.
A Love Letter
There was a time when love letters were special in the lives of especially young people. Little notes slipped around in the class room from a boy to a girl or vice versus. What a thrill to get a little love note. Sometimes the mail man brought them right to your door. When young men went off to serve their country many left behind a girlfriend they did not want to leave. Naturally, they promised to write each other until his safe return home from service.
I remember when I was in the military, they would have mail call in the late evening each day. All who received a letter heard their name called out loudly and what a happy trooper they were, those who got a letter. On the other hand, most of the guys did not receive a letter. They left mail call disappointed hoping that maybe tomorrow they would get that special note from someone who loved them and missed them.
Have you written anyone a love letter lately? Or, has anyone sent you one expressing how much they care for you? Maybe, we need to revive what was once a customary thing to do. With all the hate, anger, and bitterness in the world, maybe a little love spread through the mail system could be the start of something good. What an encourager a love letter is to those who receive them. The day seems brighter and the burdens are lighter because of a little note from someone who cares.
Even today when we receive Christmas cards there is seldom a word from the sender, only their signature in a big card. It seems like we just do not have time for one another anymore. I am afraid we are living in the fast lane of life. No one has time to smell the roses. There are too many places to go and things to do, until we have no time for people. People who need us and we need them. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US?
Love letters seemed to have played out when the telephone came on the scene. Instead of having to find pencil and paper and take time to compose a note, now we just talk into the mouth piece of the phone and not heart to heart. On top of that is the email system with the junk mail it spews instead of sincere notes of caring for someone. We should all be mindful of how, and when we speak with our loved ones as we never know when it may be the last time.
Solomon’s Love
The wisdom writer spoke of how refreshing good news is.
As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. Proverbs 25:25
Take time to read the Song of Solomon and the country girl he found that he loved so much. Here is just a little taste of it.
The song of songs, which is Solomon’s. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine. Song of Solomon 1:1-2
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned. Song of Solomon 8:6-7
Yes, what a beautiful love story between Solomon and his country girl. What is more wonderful than love? What could be more needed than love? Do you love anyone like this? We are all to love the Lord more than anything, and if we do all the other loves will fall into their proper place in our lives.
Maybe, the Song of Solomon will inspire you to take time to write someone a little comment telling them how important they are, and what they mean to you. It will make you feel better and someone else will be blessed by knowing you are thinking of them
Bible Time Radio
When we first began radio broadcasting in the early Seventy’s we used to get letters quite often from our listeners. Sometimes a small offering was made to the ministry, but today that has changed. It is seldom a thing now for letters, or comments one way or the other. People are listening, but few want to take time to communicate or be involved. Folks, this is very sad.
But! Praise the Lord, there is a love letter that has been given to all people of all ages that describes love like no other. The Creator of the Universe has given us the Holy Scriptures in the Bible that tells us how greatly we are all loved of God. No love letter composed by man compares to it. However, too few people take it seriously or the contents, and certainly miss out on the joy, love, promises and blessings it offers because they love their sin.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39
We have all been born into a world wrecked by sin that has separated us from the precious, all giving, love of God. This problem arose by man himself in the beginning, and my friend and it has gotten worse.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
How this came about is described by the Apostle Paul.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12
Through all time and man’s rebellion, God still did not forsake man. He promised a Messiah who would come and destroy the works of the Devil so God’s creation could have a choice as to whether, or not they would accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
In time God sent forth his only Son the Lord Jesus Christ who would die upon a Roman cross for the sins of all the world. In other words, Jesus paid for all my sins, and yours so we could be forgiven and not be judged with the Devil to the lake of fire one day. Not only did Jesus die but, on the third day as promised he arose conquering death and is alive forever more. Yes, He has risen, and we look forward to celebrating all He has done for us once again as we celebrate Easter Sunday on April 21st, 2019.
God’s love letters state that if you will accept his son as your Savior, he will forgive you of all your sins and give you eternal life. Think of all we can have because of Jesus dying in our place. Forgiveness of sin, eternal life, a home in heaven forever, becoming sons and daughters of God, all of this and more by believing in Jesus as our savior.
I wonder do you understand how loved you are of God? That God would send his only son to die so you and I could be saved from our sin. Folks, there is no other love like that. God loves me and you even though we are sinners and he wants to forgive us and save us so we can live with him forever in heaven.
The riches of his love so vividly described in our Bible is more precious than all of the gold, silver, and diamonds in all creation. Tis sad, but most people do not understand how valuable the soul of man is to God. Is there any wonder we are told;
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19-20
And this of course is something we all should do!
Father, how great and wonderful is your love for us. Oh, that we as your people would share your love with the masses of people who need to know the grace of God in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Help us to be faithful in our service to thee, I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen “Loving the Savior” Preacher
